Universe Will Ultimately Disappear, Says Nobel Prize Winner Physicist

Visualize a dark Universe with no stars, no planets, and no galaxies. In 100 billion years astrophysicists could be unemployed from no cosmic objects to see. The Universe will disappear and if humans still be present, they will feel lonelier than ever. This depressed image of the future was offered Professor Brian P Schmidt, well-known astrophysicist and 2011 Nobel Prize winner in Physics.

“Human beings will gaze to a blank universe in 100 billion years, as all the galaxies will disappear excluding the Milky Way we live in,” said Schmidt, who was present at the General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in Beijing.

Professor Schmidt shared the 2011 Nobel Prize in physics with Saul Perlmutter and Adam Riess for providing proof that the extension of the universe is increasing speed. Before their astonishing finding, it was generally believed that the expansion of the cosmos was decelerating.

The best existing clarification of why the cosmos is speeding up is that there is some energy tied to empty space which drives matter apart. This ‘Dark Energy’ creates up to 73% of the universe but is very hard to identify. Optimistically a better idea of it will lead to a union of our theories of gravitation and quantum mechanics. These remarkable findings led to study on dark energy, a hypothetical form of energy that infuses all of space and have a tendency to speed up the expansion of the universe.

We know that Andromeda identified also as M31 is now 2.5 million light-years away, but it’s is coming towards us very fast. It’s predictably falling to the Milky Way under the joint tug of gravity among the two galaxies and the unseen dark matter that surrounds them both. A while ago, astrophysicists established the collision course among the two galaxies. Unluckily, there is more to this story and it becomes even poorer.

“Our Milky Way will still be here and combine with some neighboring galaxies,” Professor Schmidt said. “But other things we see currently will not be able to reach us in the future. Every galaxy outside the Milky Way will vanish. At that time, astrophysicists will all be jobless for there will be nothing to work at.”

All galaxies will ultimately disappear and the Universe will vanish. So maybe, we should discover those extraterrestrial civilizations quickly, because if Professor Schmidt is right, there will be no-one to hunt for in 100 billion years. Is this how it will all end one day?

  1. Einstein was the greatest scientific trickster ever. Theories of relativity lead to Big Bang Theory whereas under Big Bang paradigm there is absolutely no possibility of existence of God for following reasons.
    1. Philosophically for existence; it has to be some substance (visible, invisible, perceivable or not perceivable) and this applies to God also. Substances occupy space but there is absolutely no space for God to exist at the time of Big Bang & before.
    2. Four things come out of Big Bang namely space, time, matter & light/radiation. We cannot look for eternal God in space & time as both had the beginning; secondly humans are in a position to produce all types of light/radiation and something which humans can produce could not be the God and since matter is made up of electrons, protons & neutrons these too could not be the God.
However Theories of Relativity & Big Bang Theory including Cosmic Inflation has been mathematically, theoretically & experimentally proved as baseless in the published paper "Experimental & Theoretical Evidences of Fallacy of Space-time Concept and Actual State of Existence of the Physical Universe" which is available at the journal site at http://indjst.org/index.php/indjst/issue/view/2885. 1. The Big Bang is a TV show not a Theory... Penny, Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, Raj, Bernadette, Amy, Leslie.... These are all characters in the script which is very relative to reality.
